2 more weeks in Ames,IA

Its kind of a weird feeling now... wondering should i wish that exams are all over but i know that i will be leaving this place where i had fun for the past 4 months~ Many amazing friends made in this journey, tonnes of lessons learnt and many first-times in my life~ though i am looking forward to hug my nieces and family back in Singapore, i still wished that i could spend more time here. I realise one very important thing about Exchange Programs is that it really doesnt matter where you go as you will surely enjoy it. Its a matter of getting out of where you came from. I met this guy who went to NUS for exchange and he enjoyed it. I wondered how he did it, now i know~ haha.. but of course if you want to go europe, ur pocket will have a bigger hole than mine~ i really have a hole in a pocket of my fav jeans~ another excuse to do shopping~~ haha..

in general, the education systems here are kind of encouraging and i think its easier... wait till i get my results and i will post my views on this one.. HAHA~ but the profs here are generally more professional and more interested in teaching~ changes are made all the time to improve on their teaching~ voices are heard here~ Probably its the style of NUS. Never liked it~ the final exams here are usually 30% of the total... so there is a possibility to pass it before the finals~~ oh yeah..

got a news from our dearest mugging buddy that he didnt know he had an exam on one of the days~ i didnt name names... but i think everyone should have guessed who~ haha... thats the problem for not having us mugging together~ =)

Olde Main in Ames..

Nice~ thats a pub in ames where they have beer for $1 on Wednesday night.. Nice.. and the beer is also nice when i am not one who fancy beer~ hahaha.. tried driving to the pub in a manual car.. thanks to nick.. but i felt weird driving on the other side of the road~ and esp changing gears with my right hand.. thats tough~ did i say i went drinking on wed night? Opps.. WHO CARES~ :-D

VEISHEA rocks~

This is the VEISHEA week~~ this is a tradition in Iowa State University (ISU) to celebrate spring if i am not wrong. But sad to say it was snowing over the weekends.. btw, VEISHEA stands Veterinary medicine, Engineering. Industrial Science, Home Economics and Agriculture~ each letter represents the various faculty here. There are carnivals, like clubs selling hotdogs and stuff at booths, rides (like those in funfairs) and some exciting shows all in campus~ There are also lots of different tradition in Veishea that everyone would do like eating cherry pies, having pancakes at midnight, the interesting one is mass campaniling (though i kind of missed it even when i am right there~) You see the people who graduated from ISU will come back to ISU to celebrate in campus~ The best part is that you get to see lots of people drunk at like 10 pm and the party still goes on all the way~ So basically this campus town suddenly become VERY bustling for the week~ the most stupid thing of the veishea comm is that they moved this event 2 weeks earlier this yr where its not quite spring yet~ and the exchange students are freezing their asses off to get to see everything about veishea as we are not getting any more of this in the coming year~ hey wait~ did some one notice that i said veishea was pushed forward 2 weeks earlier this year? YES~ you didnt get it wrong~ VEISHEA used to be 2 weeks before the final exams, which is the week before study week where everyone plays all they want before studying for the finals~~ HAHAH... will NUS ever have this kind of tradition? So what if NUS is one fo the top universities~! haha.. i will try to post some pics once i uploaded them ~~

missing all the food suddenly~~

i was wondering last night when i cant get to sleep even though i am dead tired: which is the food i miss most in Singapore and which one would be the most probable one that i can get to eat the moment i land in Singapore.. current plans shows that i have a 200% probability that i will get prata and teh terik as i will be landing in Singapore around mid-night and thats the food which would be most likely available~~ I MISS ALL THE FOOD~!~! there is so many things i wan to eat~~ the list will go on and on and on... i will go search for some of the pics to upload here... hahaha..

Camping @ Pilot Knob State Park

Once again, its trip organized by the Outdoor Recreation Club in Iowa. Its quite fun and relaxing~ thats nothing you can do even if you are thinking about the project and homework that is going to be due on the coming week. So you have got to make the best out of it, into the wilds and embrace nature. Our leaders of the trip have prepared so much amazing, impressive food, that you will never imagine having them in the wild~ oh yeah... just imagine having a cheese cake when you are camping~ or even pizza~ thats FANTASTIC. walk around the place, played soccer at the campsite, an amazing way to spend the weekend when everyone else is preparing for exams and homework~ thats the thing about in an exchange prog~ no stress at all.. though i may be in america, which makes traveling hard without a car, there are still things to do.. so for those who are gg SEP, europe is a place to travel, but America is a place to relax unless you are planning to buy a car or you are in some uni in some big cities...

took a break

yeah.. i took a break after one of my 20% exam.. feels good not gg for class and still feel that you can make it... so i decided to try to go for a short run after slacking for 3++++ months.. the feeling of jogging here is totally different. i was wrapped up cos the weather is like 5 deg. C. My face and hands become cold really quickly cos of the wind... but my body is warm.. then the breath you take in is cold... OMG~ its not very conducive to run in such weather... but everyone is out running cos the weather is considered good~~

after the run i decided to wash the dishes.. this is the first time i see my sink empty~~ hahaha.. Btw, the following pic is taken last thur.. It was suppose to be spring already~~ and all the snow has melted for a week or so.. BUT suddenly, overnight, it become like that.. haiz.. Where is spring? i reckon that if this carry on, i might not even get spring till i leave ames... and i will hit summer when i go to carlifornia... damn... spring sounds like perfect weather one can get...
